Using online freelancers
Using online freelancers to leverage your business
The other 80 percent of the world’s population are about to join the Internet.
In 2009, the world’s population reached 6.7 billion. Only 1.4 billion (21%) of which are online. The other 5.3 billion people, representing some 80 percent of the world’s population are yet to join the Internet. The average wage in these regions is between $1 and $5 per day. Today, most consumer goods are made in China. Tomorrow, it is highly likely that most work that can be outsourced online will be efficiently serviced from India, China, Latin America and Africa. In the last few years a number of web businesses have launched at the micro-end of outsourcing. These sites allow for the first time SMEs or individuals to efficiently outsource projects ranging from simple tasks (e.g. asking a question) through to micro-projects (e.g. find me the contact details of 1000 gift shops in America) through to projects involving complex product development.
Small businesses are now finding that jobs that used to cost them $2000 to get done locally can now be outsourced quickly and to a high level of quality for around $100-200! What’s more is that this highly liquid pool of labour is “on demand”, so that jobs can be outsourced at any time of day or night. This presentation will provide an overview of the next revolution that the Internet has delivered, which will forever change how small businesses operate.
